Nigerian Archbishop warns that Boko Haram is gaining ground all the time

In Nigeria, the Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Ignatius Kaigama, has warned that the Islamic militant group Boko Haram is “gaining ground” all the time in the north east of the country and describes the situation as “very worrisome.”  Over the past two weeks, the militant group has seized control of more than 25 towns and villages and their advance has prompted thousands of people to flee their homes, creating a humanitarian crisis in some areas.

Archbishop Kaigama spoke to Susy Hodges about the threat posed by Boko Haram and how he and the other Catholic Bishops have urged the Nigerian government to “see this danger on the horizon” and step up its efforts to end the militants' brutal campaign of terror.
