Pope Francis gives mosaic to House of Hope of Kkottongnae

(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis has given a mosaic entitled “Nativity” to the House of Hope of Kkottongnae. The piece was designed by Emanuela Rocchi, who has worked at the Vatican Mosaic Studio since 2004, and is a contemporary representation of the mystery of the Nativity.  The design puts the Holy Family in a star, at the bottom of which a crowd of pilgrims make their way to worship the Christ Child. The color pattern was chosen to evoke the vision of the world according to the simplicity of a child. The picture measure 60x40 cm, and is typical of the style used in the mosaics in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
