20 women kidnapped in Nigeria

(Vatican Radio) Suspected Boko Haram gunmen have reportedly kidnapped 20 women from a nomadic settlement in northeast Nigeria near the town of Chibok, where the Islamic militants abducted more than 200 schoolgirls on April 15. The gunmen reportedly arrived on Thursday at the Garkin Fulani settlement in Nigeria’s northeastern Borno State, taking the 20 women and three men who tried to stop the abduction.

Boko Haram has been launching attacks in several cities in Nigeria’s northeast, and has killed over 2,000 people so far this year. The government has come under increasing criticism over its handling of the crisis.
