Pakistani activist condemns brutal case of pregnant woman beaten to death by her family

(Vatican Radio)  Pakistan’s government  says it will investigate why police failed to intervene when a pregnant woman was beaten to death  by her own family.  The incident took place in broad daylight this week outside the High Court in the city of Lahore.   The woman had offended her family by marrying against their wishes.

Susy Hodges spoke to Eaman Khan of the Human Rights Commission in Pakistan.  He describes it as a "very shocking and brutal" killing and says that unfortunately many of the nation’s police and the general public tend to look the other way when such crimes occur.
