Spokesman for Patriarch Bartholomew on Sunday's ecumenical meeting

(Vatican Radio)  The highlight of Pope Francis’ 3-day pilgrimage to the Holy Land is Sunday’s meeting between him and the Ecumenical Patriarch, Bartholomew I during which they are due to sign a joint declaration.  Their encounter marks the 50th anniversary of the historic meeting between Pope Paul VI and the Ecumenical Patriarch, Athenagoras  in Jerusalem in 1964.   Nick Furris is the Communications Director  for the Patriarch Bartholomew and he says Sunday’s meeting between the two spiritual leaders goes far beyond symbolic importance. He describes the two men as visionaries following in the footsteps of the original visionaries in 1964.
