(Vatican Radio) Monsignor Philip Whitmore brings you a musical meditation to mark
the month of May. As he tells us we know lots of hymns that use 'Ave' to address Our
Lady. Whenever we greet her with that word, we're recalling the greeting of the Angel
Gabriel used and making it our own. But why don't you listen to the sumptuous arrangement
of that haunting plainsong 'Ave Maris Stella' made by the great 17th century Italian
composer Claudio Monteverdi which comes in his setting of Vespers to Our Lady. A
