Card. Thottunkal: The Risen Jesus overcomes marginalization and oppression

April 22, 2014: "Jesus is Risen, gives us strength to overcomes difficulties, struggles and sufferings and all the situation of alienation and discrimination, marginalisation and oppression said His Beatitude Mar Baselios Cleemis Thottunkal , president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI ) and Major Archbishop of Trivandrum of the Syro-Malankara in his message to the Asia News. The Cardinal writes that "human beings though confined to mortal realities are created in the Image and Likeness of God, God is Emmanuel, He is with us, and I pray that Emmanuel, the Risen Lord, who is always with his people, may always strengthen us, filling us with His presence, His wisdom. He, who is the Light of the World, will enlighten our darkness and the darkness around us, giving us guidance, that we may live a life of glory in the Risen Lord"
"For us in India - he explains - the assurance that God is Emmanuel, He is present within us, and we human beings are created in His Image, renews our Hope. "As Christians, - His Beatitude concludes - We have to live a life, of creditability as followers of Christ and of the Gospel, and this is possible even in the midst of tribulation and sacrifice. We are not asking for an exception".
