Pope's Easter gifts to sick children in hospital

April 19, 2014 - Pope Francis has sent a van-load of 150 Easter eggs to the children of Rome’s Bambino Gesù (Child Jesus) Children’s Hospital. With the chocolate eggs, the Pope wanted to give the sick children a smile as Easter gift. The colourfully decorated Easter eggs were distributed among the children of the cancer ward in their recreation room.

Pope Francis had visited Bambino Gesù hospital on December 21, last year ahead of Christmas. On that occasion the Holy Father had met each child, giving them a kiss and smile. The Bambino Gesù paediatric hospital of the Holy See, is known to people as the ‘Pope’s hospital.’ The first pontiff to visit its inmates was the ‘Good Pope’ John XXIII, who will be declared saint on April 27, along with Pope John Paul II
