Preacher of Papal Household begins Lenten reflections

(Vatican Radio) The Preacher of the Papal Household, Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, O.F.M. Cap., gave his first Lenten homily in the Redemptoris Mater Chapel on Friday morning, at 9 a.m.

The theme of Fr. Cantalamessa’s reflections this Lent is, “On the shoulders of giants: The great truths of our faith contemplated with the Fathers of the Latin Church”.

At the start of his first homily, he noted the absence of the Pope, who was still in Ariccia on Friday morning, outside Rome, wrapping up his Lenten spiritual exercises with members of the Roman Curia.

His subsequent Lenten homilies will be given over the next four Fridays: March 21 and 28, April 4 and 11.
