Pope tweets and invites prayers for persecuted Christians
March 6, 2014: In a post on the social media on Saturday, Pope Francis invited everyone
to pray for persecuted Christians “Let us pray for Christians who are victims of persecution,
so that they may know how to respond to evil with good.” the Pope wrote on his Twitter
account @pontifex.
Pope Francis has always shown great concern for Christians
worldwide who have been suffering persecution on account of their faith. Speaking
at the plenary assembly of the congregation for Eastern Churches in Rome in November
2013, the Holy Father had said he will work restlessly to ensure Christians have the
right to profess their religion without facing persecution. Pope Francis said he is
seriously concerned about the safety of Christians living especially in the Middle
East suffering because of an escalation in political and sectarian violence in Syria,
Iraq and Egypt.
