Miles Davis & Gil Evans "Sketches of Spain"
I’ve set aside three tracks from Miles Davis and Gil Evans’ “Sketches of Spain” for
today’s (March 5th) Ash Wednesday feature: “Concierto de Aranjuez”, “The Pan Piper”
and “Solea”. The album was recorded at the now defunct Columbia 30th Street
Studio in NYC between November 1959 and March 1960, and received the Grammy Award
for Best Original Jazz Composition in 1961.
