Financial officers of religious institutes to meet in Rome
(Vatican Radio) Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic
Life is inviting the financial officers of over 500 religious institutes from around
the world to a two day symposium entitled "The management of the ecclesiastical goods
of Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, for the service
of humanity and for the mission of the Church." The event, which was organized at
the request of Pope Francis, will take place March 8-9 at the Pontifical University
Antonianum, which is run by the Franciscan Order. The role played by Institutes of
Consecrated Life in the fields of education, health and the promotion of the human
person in society was acknowledged by the Congregation. The statement noted the significant
legal and economic changes happening in the world today, and said the Congregation
felt the need to “to meet, reflect, and discuss” how to manage and administer the
assets of religious institutions so they can continue to be at the service of the
common good, and the mission of the Church.
