Jack Teagarden

Jack Teagarden is one of the featured soloists on our Louis Armstrong and his Orchestra sides for today (February 25th) from 1937 and 1938 recordings. Teagarden’s trombone style was largely self-taught, and chief among his contributions to the language of jazz trombonists was his ability to interject the blues into virtually any piece of music. Teagarden is also often mentioned as one of the best jazz vocalists of the era; his singing style similar to his trombone playing, in the same way that Louis Armstrong sang quite like he played the trumpet.
