Fr. Spadaro opens the debates of SIGNIS World Congress on Tuesday
Rome, 25 February 2014: Fr Antonio Spadaro, SJ, an expert in religion and digital
media, author of Cyberteologia (soon to be published in English as Cybertheology)
and editor-in-chief of the influential Jesuit magazine La Civiltà Cattolica, gave
the opening address of SIGNIS World Congress on Tuesday afternoon, February 25. In
it he reflected upon the ethical and spiritual dimensions of the emerging digital
culture. Father Spadaro talked to some 300 Catholic communicators from around
80 countries who came to Rome for the SIGNIS World Congress 2014, which is approaching
the theme “Media for a Culture of Peace: Creating Images with the New Generation”.
Besides
of the opening session with Fr Spadaro, the programme of the Congress for Tuesday
also included 4 workshops on New Media, Social Marketing, Catholic Social Documentary,
and Cinema and Spirituality.
