Father Faber: 'faith lives on in spite of dungeon fire and sword'...


(Vatican Radio) One of the most prolific of hymn-writers must surely have been Father Frederick William Faber, who in 1849 founded the London Oratory, dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary,says music historian Monsignor Philip Whitmore.

Listen to this musical meditation in which Monsignor Whitmore also explains how at the time Father Faber wrote hymns the Catholic community in England was still finding its feet after centuries of exclusion from public life.
