(Vatican Radio) A Venezuelan opposition leader has been arrested during an anti-government
rally in the Capitol, Caracas. Venezuela's National Guard didn't have to go looking
for Leopoldo Lopez. He presented himself to them after giving a speech. He is accused
of terrorism and murder, which he denies, insisting he is being made a scapegoat by
the Government of President Nicolas Maduro. The Harvard educated former mayor,
made the most of his arrest: Holding a Venezuelan flag in one hand and clutching
a white flower in the other. He urged his supporters not to converge on areas of pro-government
supporters in order to avoid violent clashes. Protests are continuing and the situation
remains highly volatile.
