(Vatican Radio) Recently Pope Francis has often mentioned a character from our family
tree of faith: King David. But who exactly was he?
Well he's remembered as
the greatest of the kings of Israel, the youngest son of a man named Jesse.
Not
only was he ruddy faced and a good musician but also a great warrior. Yet there was
more than a touch of the scheming opportunist in him and after a stint as an extortionist
and a bandit he even offered his services to the Philistines.
Despite this
as the story emerges he eventually becomes King..
