(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis on Monday received in audience the Samoan Head of State,
His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi.
During the course of their cordial
encounter, the two men focussed on social and economic aspects of the Samoan nation,
and on the much appreciated contribution of the Catholic Church in various sectors
of Samoan society, in particular within the field of human promotion. The Pope and
the Head of State also exchanged views on the international situation, with particular
reference to regional cooperation and to environmental issues that impact on many
Pacific nations.
Following his meeting with the Pope, His Highness Tui Atua
Tupua Tamasese Efi met with Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal-designate Pietro
Parolin, and with the Vatican Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop Dominique
Mamberti
