A martyr from the Spanish Civil War to be Beatified


(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis on Monday received in audience Cardinal Angelo Amato, Prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.

During the audience the Holy Father authorized the Dicastery to promulgate the Decrees referring to the Blessed-to-be Asùa Mendìa, a Spanish priest who was killed in hatred of the faith in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War.

He also authorized the promulgation of Decrees referring to seven new Venerable Servants of God.
