Herbie Hancock

Jazz pianist, Herbie Hancock’s 1968-recorded and released “Speak Like a Child” is what I’ll be bringing to the studio today (January 22), with Ron Carter on bass, Mickey Roker on drums, Jerry Dodgion on alto flute, Thad Jones on flugelhorn and Peter Phillips on bass trombone. The album is Hancock’s sixth for Blue Note, and second as a leader. I’ve singled out its title track, two other self-penned compositions and Ron Carter’s “First Trip” for our playlist at 2:30 pm.
