Spanish Bishops allocate € 1.3 million for projects in five continents
Spain, 21 January 2014: The Spanish Bishops have allocated € 1.3 million for 182 projects
from five continents. It has been approved by the Executive Committee of the Spanish
Episcopal Conference by virtue of aid from the European Union, various religious congregations
and individual donors. The African continent will benefit for their 74 projects
at a cost of 554,000 Euros, Asia with 21 projects at the cost of 537,400 EUR, America
with 74 projects, € 129,500, and Europe can count on 130,000 euro. The money will
be spent on the construction of new facilities , for catechesis and education, support
of individual monasteries or religious institutes, seminars, means of transport, and
individual priests. Among the target countries, special attention is given to Lebanon.
10,000 Euros in total for the reception of Syrian refugees. Romania follows with 20,000
euro for the restoration of the Cathedral of Oradea, and Bolivia with as many 20,000
euro for the dining table and the kitchen of the Redemptoris Mater Seminary of La
Paz. India is also among the top recipients: EUR 15,000 for the completion of
the Cathedral of St. Michael in Khunti, 8,000 euro for a jeep to the Congregation
of the Servants of Mary in Chingleput and 1,500 Euros for fabrics and other materials
to work for the Dominicans of Quilon.Source: VR Sedoc
