God’s unfailing love for us is not general but individual and particular

January 13, 2014 - The love of God fixes our mistakes, our history as sinners because he never ever abandons us even if we don’t understand His love. This was the central message of the homily of Pope Francis at Mass, Monday morning, at the Casa Santa Marta residence in the Vatican. Recalling the day’s Gospel episode of Jesus calling his first disciples to their new mission, the Pope said, it is the love of God that takes time and prepares the life of each one of us and accompanies us individually. After the Lord picked Peter, Andrew, James and John, they had mistaken and made un-Christian proposals to their Lord, even denying Him and running away from Him. But after His Resurrection the Lord continued preparing his disciples right up to Pentecost. Even after Pentecost, some of them continued to mistake, such as Peter, and Paul had to correct him. The Pope explained that the Lord prepares for each one of us for generations. In this regard, the Pope drew attention to the genealogy of Jesus, saying some of them were sinners, such as David. But the Lord intervened and straightened the road and things. The Pope compared the love of God to a couple expecting a baby, saying the Lord awaits us and accompanies each one of us in history, preparing our road. Rationally thinking, we wonder how iit is possible for the Lord to think of me personally amidst so many persons. The Pope said the Lord provides us with mothers, fathers, grand and great grandparents, saying his love is concrete, eternal and also individual. The Pope thus urged for the grace to understand this love of God.
