'Ara Coeli': the 'bambinello'...


(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis on Sunday is set to bless the so called 'bambinelli', the little statuettes of Baby Jesus to be placed in the Christmas crib on Christmas eve. Figurines of all shapes and sizes that Roman children bring with them at this time of year to Saint Peter's Square. To mark this occasion Veronica Scarisbrick shares with you a very Roman experience relating to one such 'bambinello'. She does so with Professor of Fine Arts Breda Ennis in the Basilica of 'Santa Maria in Ara Coeli' perched on Rome's Capitoline hill.
