Europe and Africa: migration, environment and gender justice
(Vatican Radio) ‘Living Faith through Justice: Old and New Frontiers’. This was the
title of a seminar taking place this week to mark the 25th anniversary
of the Africa-Europe Faith and Justice Network. Based in Brussels, the network aims
to influence economic policies affecting relations between Africa and the member states
of the European Union.
The seminar was led by Nigerian Jesuit Father Agbonkhianmeghe
Orobator, who heads the East African Province of the Society of Jesus. He focused
on some of the critical challenges facing those who seek to live faith through justice
in the contemporary African context. These challenges include the problems of migration,
care for the environment, and gender justice, as Philippa Hitchen found out when she
spoke to Fr. Orobator during the seminar on Friday.
