(Vatican Radio) Mexico's Foreign Ministry is again warning the US Government to hurry
up and complete a report about spying on its Presidency by the National Security Agency.
James Blears reports that Washington is playing with bi-lateral fire due to this continued
stalling and dithering.
The procrastination has already convinced Brazil's
President Dilma Rousseff to cancel what would have been the first State visit to Washington
by a Brazilian Head of State in 18 years.
US Secretary of State John Kerry
has tried to counter, by saying that national and international security is at stake.
However, this simply doesn't square with the latest revelations, courtesy of ex intelligence
data analyst Edward Snowden, in which the NSA smugly reveals that the hacking of then
President Felipe Calderon's e mails was quote: "A lucrative source of information."
The
Mexican Foreign Ministry's latest broadside cautions: "In a relationship between neighbors
and partners, there's no place for alleged practises! It also says it wants the investigation
completed very soon.
The political writing is clearly on the wall, but Washington
still appears to be taking its time.
