(Vatican Radio) At least 16 Syrian soldiers were killed today in a suicide bombing
and ensuing clashes in a Damascus suburb.
Rebels control most of the countryside
around the capital, but Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad has drawn support from ethnic
and religious minorities in the suburbs, including Christians and Druze, an offshoot
of Shia Islam.
