Pope receives Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa
September 30, 2013 - (Vatican Radio) Pope Francis on Monday received in audience
in the Vatican Patriarch Theodoros II, the head of the Greek Orthodox Church of Alexandria.
The Patriarch was elected to lead the Greek Orthodox Church of Alexandria and All
Africa on October 9th 2004 by the Hierarchs of the Alexandrian Throne. He officially
took charge on 24th October 2004 at the Holy Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos
in Alexandria, in the presence of many Primates and Representatives of all the Churches,
the Cultural and Political Leaders of Greece and Egypt, and thousands of Christians.
