Pope receives Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa
(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis on Monday received in audience in the Vatican His Beatitude
Theodoros II, the Greek Orthodox Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa.
The Patriarch, who was accompanied by an entourage, was elected to lead the Greek
Orthodox Church in Alexandria and All Africa on October 9th 2004 by the
Hierarchs of the Alexandrian Throne. His Enthronement took place on 24th October
2004 at the Holy Church of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Alexandria, in the
presence of many Primates and Representatives of all the Churches, the Cultural and
Political Leaders of Greece and Egypt, and thousands of Christians.
