September 20, 2013 - A Church in western India’s Mumbai city has been desecrated
by unknown thieves. The looters desecrated the Sacrament located in the Adoration
Chapel of the Church of St. Joseph in Juhu, stole the gold-plated monstrance and ciborium,
and emptied the offering box. The profanation was discovered early Wednesday morning
when the priest found the open tabernacle, some consecrated hosts scattered on the
ground and the box with the offerings unhinged and empty. The police are still on
the trail of the culprits. Bombay Auxiliary bishop John Rodrigues celebrated a Mass
of reparation and asked the faithful to pray for those who committed the act and invoke
the mercy of God. (Source: AsiaNews)
