(Vatican Radio) Mexico which has been simultaneously pounded by two Tropical Storms,
is due for another dose, because one of them which has strengthened into a Hurricane
is on its way back. More than eighty people have already been killed and 58 more are
missing, after a mudslide.
Listen to correspondent James Blears' report...
Tropical
storm Manuel, which ripped into the international vacatiom resort of Acapulco in South
Western Mexico on Monday, swept on through the State of Guerrero. Belts of rain lashed
the village of La Pintada, where a saturated hillside collapsed on to the church,
school kindergaten, and homes. Fifty eight people are missing. To the South East,
Tropical Storm Ingrid completed the left right combination. More than 20,000 people
were evactuated out of its direct path, in the State of Vera Cruz. Manuel which
has gained more power offshore and has empowered to a Hurricane has now moved North
West and is approaching Culican- the capitol of the State of Sinaloa. Two thirds
of the country has been affected by this double weather hammer, the like of which
has not been suffered since 1958. Paradoxically today is the 28th anniversary
of the massive 8.1 force earthquake which devastated downtown Mexico City, killing
more than 10,000 people.
