(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis sent a telegram expressing condolences and spiritual
closeness to the victims of Hurricane Ingrid and Tropical Storm Manuel in Mexico.
Addressed to the Archbishop of Guadalahara and President of the Mexican Bishops’ Conference,
Cardinal José Robles Francisco Ortega, and signed by the Cardinal Secretary of State,
Tarcisio Bertone, the message conveys promises of the Holy Father’s “fervent prayers”
on behalf of the deceased and their grieving loved ones, as well as for all those
affected by the storms. Pope Francis goes on to encourage sentiments and concrete
acts of solidarity, especially in the effort to repair and rebuild. The Pope concludes
his message by commending the whole people to the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe,
and extending them his Apostolic Blessing.
