Gulf Syro-Malabar associations to meet by month-end
Kochi, India, 25 May 2013: A get-together of the Syro-Malabar church associations
in various Gulf countries will be held in Kuwait on May 30.
Organized by the
Kuwait Syro-Malabar cultural association under the auspice of the church's commission
for expatriates, the meet will be held at Holy Family Cathedral Church in Kuwait.
The
church has around 500,000 believers in Gulf countries and the associations were formed
with the aim to instill the church's values and cultural identity in the new generation.
The
meet is organized as per the church's bishops' synod to form a new action plan for
these associations.
Bishop Mar Sebastian Vadakkel, chairman of the commission
for evangelization and pastoral care of migrants, will inaugurate the program.
A
seminar will be held as part of the event with papers being presented by Bishop Vadakkel,
commission secretary Fr. Jose Cheriyambanatt and Fr. George Dhanavelil. Source:
