17 May, 2013 - Pope Francis has a number of public celebrations in the coming two
months before flying out on July 22 for the World Youth Day in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil..
The Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Pope released on Friday a schedule
of papal celebrations in May, June and July. On Thursday, Next week, the Pope will
join Italian bishops in making their profession of faith in St. Peter’s Basilica.
On May 26, Sunday, he will celebrate Mass at the parish of Sts. Elizabeth and Zachary
in Rome. On May 30 he will celebrate the Corpus Christi feast with a Mass in St.
John Lateran Basilica followed by a traditional Eucharistic procession to Saint Mary
Major Basilica. On June 16, Pope Francis will celebrate Mass in St. Peter’s Square
to mark the “Evangelium Vitæ” Day, named after Pope John Paul II’s 1995 encyclical
on the value and sacredness of human life. ON June 29 he will mark the feast of Sts.
Peter and Paul imposing the pallium on new metropolitan archbishops from around the
world. On July 7, Pope Francis will celebrate a Mass for seminarians and novices
in St. Peter’s Basilica.
