(Vatican Radio) The campaign for free education across the board in Chile continues,
as the demonstrations jugganaut rumbles back into action in five cities. Tens of thousands
peacefully and very vocally marched through the Capitol Santiago. This is the second
large protest March this year. The campaign has been steadily gathering momentum for
two years. And as before on occasion, small splinter groups of masked youths in Santiago,
attacked the Police with rocks and Molotov cocktails to be answered with water cannon
and tear gas volleys. Students are demanding the free education concession, and nowhere
is it more keenly felt in Chile's Universities, all of which are private, fee paying,
and mostly expensive. The Government is prepared to grant some concessions, but according
to the protest movement it hasn't yet gone anywhere near far enough." Listen
