(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis has expressed his sorrow for the grave accident involving
the Jolly Nero cargo ship in the Port of Genoa which has caused the death of at least
seven people.
In a telegramme sent by Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal
Tarcisio Bertone, the Pope expresses his heartfelt empathy with the city of Genoa,
and assures his fervent prayers for those who were tragically killed in the accident.
Pope Francis also invokes the Lord for a quick recovery for those injured and
entrusts all those affected by the event to the protection of the Madonna of La Guardia.
The 40,000-ton container ship slammed into the dock at Genoa’s busy port on
Tuesday night and toppled the control tower into the harbor. Rescue teams are searching
