03 May, 2013 - Pope Francis on Thursday posted a prayer to St. Francis of Assisi
after watching the live webcam the Conventual Franciscans have set up at the tomb
of Italy’s patron saint in the central town of Assisi. “O Francis of Assisi, intercede
for peace in our hearts'' is the prayer the Pope addressed to the saint whose simplicity
and poverty inspired Argentine Cardinal Bergoglio to assume his name on becoming Pope
on March 13. Pope Francis posted the prayer via a tablet on the site www. sanfrancesco.org,
after a meeting in the Vatican with the Minister General of the Friars Minor Conventual,
Father Marco Tasca. “Pray for me and make the faithful pray,” the Holy Father told
Fr Tasca. Present also were the guardian of the Sacred Convent of Assisi, Father
Mauro Gambetti, and the editor of the magazine “Francesco Patrono d'Italia”, Father
Enzo Fortunato.
