(Vatican Radio) Is dialogue with Muslims possible as an integral part of the Church’s
new evangelization? That’s the question facing experts on Christian-Muslim relations
from countries around Europe who are meeting in London from May 1st to 3rd under the
auspices of the CCEE, or Council of European Bishops’ Conferences. The head of
the Vatican’s Council for Interreligious Dialogue, Cardinal Jean-Louis Tauran, is
scheduled to address the meeting, which will focus on tensions between ‘dialogue
and proclamation’, or how to announce the Gospel in increasingly multi-cultural European
societies. Participants will also examine how the current economic crisis is affecting
the identity of young Christians and Muslims, as well as sharing best practices of
how the Church is facing these pressing pastoral challenges. Mgr Duarte da Cunha
