The Pope Francis effect triggers new conversions in Korea
(March 27, 2013)The simplicity and charisma of Pope Francis has triggered new conversions
in Korea, according to a local prelate. Bishop Lazarus You Heung-sik of Daejeon,
told AsiaNews that in the last week, many non-Christians who want to start a journey
of conversion have contacted the bishops and priests. According to the bishop, Pope
Francis's election, as well as Benedict XVI's renunciation are the seeds of conversion.
He said that many dioceses have told him about adults asking to start the catechumenate.
People see once again the beauty of the Catholic Church and the simplicity and charisma
of Pope Francis has made inroads in many hearts, he said. “The calls by the two
popes for humility and mercy have not gone unheeded in Korea. Now it is up to us to
build a new church and a new humanity,” he added. Source: Asianews
