Police launch manhunt to nab nun’s attackers

March 26, 2013: Police in Arusha city of Tanzania are investigating the shooting of an Indian Catholic nun. Sr. Shobana SND, who is the head of the Notre Dame School in Nijro in the city, was shot at by three men in her arm and leg when she was returning after drawing cash from a bank on March 16. The assailants, who accosted the nun, brandished a pistol and committed the crime when the nun was waiting for the school gate to be opened.

According to UCANews service, Arusha's Regional Police Commander Liberatus Sabas said that police have mounted a manhunt for the criminals who attacked and robbed the nun. The nun, who is recuperating, was left grievously injured by a bullet which shattered a bone in her leg.

However, the nun has forgiven her attackers and prayed to God to also exonerate and guide them so that they do not continue with such grievous sins but instead become law abiding citizens. Speaking from her hospital bed, she was thankful to God for saving her life.

Other nuns who visited the victim at the hospital said the money was meant to meet miscellaneous expenses at the school.
