Spotlight Pope Francis with US journalist David Gibson
(Vatican Radio) David Gibson is a US award winning journalist and author who was
recently in Rome covering the conclave for 'Religion News Service'.
Veronica
Scarisbrick asked him to drop by our Vatican Radio studios so he might share his first
impressions of Pope Francis: ".. when he first came out ...you were wondering how
are you going to connect and then he just says 'buonasera', good evening. And then
you knew it was going to be something completely different ....you know he's a Jesuit
and has that real Ignatian spirituality . He goes to Francis of Assisi through Saint
Ignatius ..that care for obedience, for the poor, on taking care of the marginalised..."
In
this interview David Gibson also reflects on how the wish expressed by the new Bishop
of Rome for 'a poor Church for the poor'' might translate into Vatican and Church
policy now that he is both leader of a government and a world flock.." .
