Pope celebrates Mass for Vatican newspaper employees
25 March, 2013 - Pope Francis celebrated a Mass Monday morning for the employees
of Vatican’s newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano. At the Mass, celebrated at the Santa
Martha residence inside the Vatican where the Pope is temporarily staying until his
papal apartment in the Apostolic Palace is ready, the Pontiff urged all to reflect
on the patience of God during the Holy Week. In a brief homily he commented on the
day’s Gospel where Judas Iscariot regards Mary the sister of Lazarus anointing the
feet of Jesus with expensive perfumed oil as mere wastage – money which could be used
for the poor. Pope Francis noted, Jesus did not rebuke Judas as a thief, but tried
to change him with patience and love. “During this week, it will do us good to meditate
on the patience of God towards us, our weakness and our sins,” he said urging all
to be thankful to God for it. (Source: Adnkronos)
