During Holy Week this year I am challenging myself to rely less on words, in the hope
of discovering new ways of communicating Melodies & Memories features and especially
to deepen my personal experience of atonement required by the drama and tragedy of
Good Friday. Instrumental music is primarily what I have in mind for this year’s programs.
While I will not purposefully fall silent, my intension is to spend more time
listening for the holy during Holy Week. I have no idea yet what kind of bent “Melodies
& Memories” Passion Week music might take on, but I’m thinking that soundtracks will
contain the consonant melodies and musical repertoire to communicate with listeners.
Today
for Melodies & Memories Saturday feature “The Strange and The Extraordinary” I’m going
to try this pledge out by uniting three instrumental tracks with two beautiful songs
from “Noa and The Solis String Quartet’s, 2005 - Live in Israel”.
