Pope Francis to celebrate Holy Thursday Mass at Juvenile Reform Home
March 21, 2013: It was announced by the Holy See Press Office on Thursday that Pope
Francis will celebrate the Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord’s Supper at the juvenile
institute 'Casal del Marmo' in Rome. On March 28, Holy Thursday, the Holy Father Francis
will be celebrating the Chrism Mass in the morning in the Basilica of St. Peter, and
in the afternoon will go to the juvenile reform institute. The Mass of the Lord's
Supper is characterized by the announcement of the Commandment of love and features
the rite of the washing of feet.
In his ministry as Archbishop of Buenos Aires,
Cardinal Bergoglio used to celebrate the Mass in a prison, hospital or hospice for
poor and marginalized people. The other Holy Week celebrations are expected to follow
the schedule already released by the Office for Liturgical Celebrations.
One
may recall that Pope Benedict XVI visited the same institute to celebrate the Holy
eucharist there in march 2007.
