Experts are trying to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of Chile's Nobel Prize
winning poet Pablo Neruda.
The family of Pablo Neruda say he died from complications
battling prostrate cancer. This happened twelve days after the military coup led by
General Augusto Pinochet in 1973. Neruda was a friend of ousted President Salvador
Allende. An exhumation of Allende in 2011, confirmed he'd shot himself.
The
controversy surrounding Neruda, stems from statements made by his driver that Pinochet's
henchmen had poisoned him.
International Forensic experts and observers from
the International Red Cross will take part in the exhumation process on April 8th.
It's been more than 40 years since Pablo Neruda died, so the medical challenges they
face will be exacting. After the process, he'll be reburied next to his also deceased
wife, so they can continue resting in peace.
