(Vatican Radio) The International Labour Organization says that unemployment is on
the rise again world-wide. The ILO report released this week states that 197 million
workers unable to find jobs last year: an increase of more than 4 million people.
In their new report on "Global Employment Trends 2013," The Organisation estimates
that unemployment will rise by 5.1 million this year to more than 202 million, and
by another 3 million in 2014, following a rise of 4.2 million in 2012. The agency
also finds a labour market mismatch between jobs and skills, the effects of which
cut across both developed and developing economies. The report states that the downward
employment trend could continue through 2017. Listen:
