29th Plenary of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum begins in Rome

January 17, 2013: In the world there is a terrible hunger for God. It is the real hunger from which man suffers, this terrible suffering is caused by the absence of God, said Cardinal Robert Sarah, president of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum on Wednesday. He was speaking to Vatican Newspaper L’observatano Romano, on the eve of the 29th plenary of the Pontifical Council Co Unum in the Vatican.
The 29th Plenary session of the Pontifical Council Cor Unum began on Thursday with the theme "Charity, Christian Anthropology, And New Global Ethics". The Plenary will conclude on Saturday, 19th January.

"Charity, new ethics and Christian anthropology" is a very important for the plenary of Cor Unum, he said, because of the theme, this session has been extended to other bodies, to give everyone the opportunity to explore some ideas that are crucial to human development achieved in many different areas. So we have an echo from all over the world on the theme that we will face.

He said that it is important on the one hand recognize the great work of development and promotion that is taking place, despite many negative indices, also in collaboration with international agencies. Christianity has an important positive proposal to do, if we think that all the reflection on the dignity of the human person is essentially a result of the Christian revelation.
So not the exclusion, but the sharing between people, not the conflict between man and woman, but complementary, not the division between body and soul, but the integration, not competition with God, but the offspring: they are useful to the world today.
The first session in the Plenary focused on "The man and the secular world: the philosophical, legal and ethical aspects of the new global ethic" by Rev. Prof. Michel Schooyans.
Archbishop Silvano Maria Tomasi - Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations Office in Geneva, gave an introduction to five working groups. The groups will deal with two issues: - New global ethic – and Presence of Catholic NGOs in international organizations.
Pope Benedict XVI will receive the participants on Saturday noon.
