Cholera outbreak in Cuban capital


(Vatican Radio) Cuba's Ministry of Health is tackling an outbreak of cholera in the Capitol Havana, and trying to contain it.The Ministry of Health confirms 51 cases of Cholera, but stresses it's taking stringent measures to insure that the illness will be isolated, treated and erridicated.
The outbreak began on January 6th, in the Cerro district of Havana, and has since reached other areas. Restuarants as well as other food and beverage outlets in Cerro have been temporarily shut. Doctors backed up by medical teams have been scouring the area checking householders for any symptoms of the deadly illness.
Cuba is renoun for the excellence of its health care and medical expertise. This is the first time since before the 1959 Revolution, that the waterborne disease of cholera has occured in Cuba. The Government is determined to deal with it, before it reaches the crisis stage.
