(Vatican Radio) Uruhu, meaning liberty or freedom in Swahili, is the name of a new
two volume book of photographs presented by the Rome Caritas at a press conference
in Thursday. The volumes, which feature the faces and stories of men and women is
some of Rome’s overcrowded prisons, hope to highlight the needs of the poorest and
most vulnerable prisoners, many of whom are dependent for basic needs on handouts
from Caritas or similar organisations. Maria Ponce de Leon works inside Rome’s
jails with an organisation called ‘volunteers in prison’ and was on hand for the presentation
