An interview with Fr. Paulo Molinari, SJ on St. Kateri Tekakwitha Welcome
to our new program on the Year of Faith, THE FAITHFUL WITNESS, a series on the lives
of Inspiring People and Witnesses of faith in the Catholic Church from around the
world. These holy people lived their ordinary lives in extraordinary ways. They are
examples of great holiness and virtue, and they invite us to follow their paths to
holiness. Their unique stories inspire us to be rooted in our faith. God calls each
one of us today to inspire our brothers and sisters and to be witnesses of our faith. Today
we shall listen to the Faithful witness of a young Native American maiden called Kateri
Tekakwitha. She is known as the Lily of the Mohawks. She is one of the seven persons
canonized by Pope Benedict XVI on 21st October 2012 in St. Peter’s square
in the Vatican. She is the first Native American woman to be venerated in the Roman
Catholic Church. Her life and works help us to look at our lives from God’s perspective
especially now when we are celebrating the Year of Faith. Jesuit Father Paolo
Molinari has been the Postulator for the canonization of Tekakwitha, working about
half a century for this cause. He shared with Vatican Radio his experiences and inspirations.
Fr Molinari by explaining the role of the postulator. listen: Q.In the
case of Kateri you were appointed……. Q. So, you were appointed mainly because Kateri
was from the Jesuit mission territory? Q. She was an ordinary girl with extra ordinary
grace. Can you tell us the story of Kateri Tekakwitha? That was Jesuit Father Paulo
Molinari, postulator for the cause of the canonization of Kateri Tekakwitha.By
