Pope welcomes new Greek ambassador

December 07, 2012 - Pope Benedict XVI on Friday welcomed the new ambassador to the Holy See, Georgios Papadopoulos. At a formal ceremony in the Vatican the Pope received the credentials from Papadopoulos at the start of his diplomatic mission at the Holy See. The 58-year old law graduate served in various positions at Greece’s foreign ministry and diplomatic mission, including as ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Belgium.
